Sew Simple Taster Workshop – Lined Drawstring Bags, Laughter & Learning at Artisan Alley
Sew Simple Taster Workshop – A Lovely Afternoon of Creativity ✂️✨
Yesterday I hosted my Sew Simple Beginner Taster Session at Artisan Alley in St Osyth, and what a truly wonderful afternoon it turned out to be!
The focus of the workshop was a perfect beginner project:
a lined drawstring bag – simple, practical, and a fantastic way to learn essential sewing skills like straight stitching, seam allowances, pivoting, pressing, and finishing techniques.
Our small group did incredibly well. Each bag emerged beautifully sewn, neatly lined, and completely unique to its maker. It’s always inspiring to watch beginners realise, “Yes – I can sew something from scratch!”

💛 A Heartfelt Thank You
This workshop wouldn’t have been the same without the amazing team at Artisan Alley.
Thank you, Nicole, Tara, and Nina, for your support, encouragement, and for making everyone feel welcome.
And an extra-special thank you to Tara, who kept us all topped up with coffee and tea throughout the session – a steady hand and a steady cup really do go hand in hand when you’re learning to sew! ☕😄
